Events at Greenbelt Baptist Church
6/4/22- Circuit Flowers and Bee Collaborative Event:
We had a fun-filled afternoon learning about flower parts, pollination, and capillary action used by plants by making flowers using paper chromatography. We also added an LED light to our flower while learning about circuits with squishy circuits.
4/2/22- Birds and Beaks Event:
After looking at a book about bird beaks, we got busy exploring various stations showing us what it may be like for a bird with different kinds of beaks. We “ate” worms from dirt with chopsticks, nectar from flowers with pipettes, seeds with tweezers, and airborne popcorn with tongs (it was decided as a group that this one was the hardest). Then, we were ready to make our own beak! There was a lot of impressive strategizing and problem-solving with success all around in the end!
Previous Arts Pop-Up Events:
Creative STEAM Kids partnered with DC’s Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW)! We provided Arts Pop-up’s around the DC area!
The Arts Pop-up united with Friends of Oxon Run for a day of affirmations! We had silhouettes of native animals to choose from for visitors to decorate and write positive words of empowerment on. We were then able to line the trails of Oxon Run with beautiful words of encouragement for others to see! Thank you, to all those who attended in the rain as well as Brenda and Stephanie!
